The East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar, opened the commemoration of the 2020 Waste Care Day (HPSN) in RW 07, Kayu Putih Urban Village, Pulogadung, on Tuesday (3/10).

It was filled with the attraction of the doorstop, culinary and non-culinary bazaar, as well as appreciation to the caretakers of the waste bank.

"We must prioritize aspects of waste reduction that emphasize more on the role and participation of the community. One of them is through waste management by communities through the joint responsibility waste program (Samtama)," he expressed, one the sideline of the event.

East Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head Herwansyah uttered RW 07 was chosen as it had succeeded in reducing the volume of waste.

"This region has been able to reduce waste in the environment by utilizing waste into goods of economic value," he said.

They also managed to involve its citizens in processing waste.

As for the information, RW 07 Kayu Putih already has one waste bank and 17 units of household-scale composter that are used by locals to process organic waste.

There are also more than 100 households have sorted waste. They also succeeded in transforming the landfill into a simple landfill owned by the locals.
